Welcome to the AI Era

The age of AI is here, and it's crucial that our community isn't left behind. Noosa Council's Peregian Digital Hub is proud to announce Tokenizer, a multi-year program to help this region develop the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed to thrive in the AI era. Through practical, hands-on learning and collaboration, we aim to build a thriving AI talent base and AI-literate community with skilled practitioners and proactive business leaders.

The Hub has been a hotbed of AI activity on the Sunshine Coast for years - in 2019, shortly after its opening and more than 3 years before the ChatGPT moment, it launched an AI Cadetship program for promising high school mathematicians, and has hosted dozens of AI workshops, talks, courses, tech trials and events in the years that followed.

Noosa Council, recognising AI's fast-growing impact, and with support from the federal government, added a world class AI Lab facility in 2023 as part of the Peregian Digital Hub's stage 2 development. The AI Lab has allowed the Hub to ramp up its support programs and it has quickly become the place to be for people who want to learn, build and create with AI.

The result is a vibrant ecosystem of AI talent, startups and expertise, along with a culture of learning, sharing, building and experimentation with AI. This has been the catalyst for the formation of many new AI initiatives, including the formation of startups like Blackbird-funded Springboards.ai and Nextplay with many more being incubated and others pivoting to become AI-first.

About Tokenizer

The Tokenizer program builds on all of this experience. It is a full-court press on AI upskilling and support, expanding beyond the Hub's traditional audience to also help SMB's and other key cohorts in the Noosa region with their AI adoption. By drawing on the talents of AI experts in the Hub network, the program will help participants build skills through hands-on learning and collaboration.

Tokenizer is made possible through investment support from organisations that recognise AI's importance and impact: the Queensland Government via Advance Queensland and its Regional Enabler Program, Regional Development Australia's Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, and Noosa network, and the Noosa Shire Council who own and operate the Hub as part of its public service.

The program will be delivered in partnership with key industry groups who understand that AI enables their members to unlock new value and create jobs in the region, including the Manufacturing Excellence Forum, the Food and Agribusiness Network, Tourism Noosa, Sunshine Coast Screen Collective, Reboot Noosa, and Coding from Beach.
