Vibecamp 2025: AI Hackathon Meets Campout in the Bush

Just completed a fun few days hosting Vibecamp - an AI Hackathon meets campout.

This was a lot more fun than previous hackathons I’ve been involved with because of two technologies:

  • AI enables anyone to bring an idea to life through ‘vibe’ coding - this widens the audience for these kinds of events and makes them much more accessible for newbies, kids, families and older people.

  • Satellite internet connectivity (via Starlink) means you can get reliable bandwidth to just about any place on earth - this means you can host hackathons in much more interesting locations, like in the bush at Habitat Noosa!

Throw in some blue sky weather, good tunes and a great group of people prepared to give it a go, and you have Vibecamp 2025.

Lots of new friends were made and judging by the quantity and quality of the demos on Sunday afternoon, lots of valuable new skills were learnt.

Superbly organised by Deidre Marczynski and Christine Mackay.

Vibecamp is part of the Hub’s Tokenizer AI program which is supported by the Advance Queensland Regional Enablers Program.

Many thanks to Noosa Council, Queensland Government for making the event possible.

Thanks also to Chris Drake (📡), Tim Nixon (🎶) and the Coding from Beach team for their support.
